We all want a rewarding career, but this means different things to different people. Perhaps it is a means of advancing one’s financial status. Or a means of proving one’s worth to friend, family and society. But in most cases, the center of it all is ‘self’. At Skills for Christ, we accept the truth that Jesus gives in Matthew 16:25, “For whoever would save his life (living only for self) will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake (living for Christ’s glory) will find it.”[1] The New City Catechism states this well: “it is right that we who were created by God should live to his glory.”[2]
Skills for Christ is a collective of professionals united in their commitment to helping people discover the joy of a truly rewarding career; a career with a bigger and better purpose than living for self. That purpose is to glorify God!.
We are focused on serving financially challenged, spiritually hungry individuals. ’Financially challenged’ because helping someone escape poverty (or near poverty) aligns with the call to love one's neighbor and to care for the marginalized and vulnerable. ‘Spiritually hungry’ because those who lack spiritual hunger are unaware of their need for God. Their illusion of self-sufficiency renders them generally unresponsive to the Gospel.
Our mission is to facilitate the growth of the spiritual life and of career skills with the goal of seeing highly-skilled, spiritually mature men and women enter a truly rewarding career. We believe this will contribute not only to our student’s individual well-being but also to the prosperity of their families, communities, and the world at large.
Participants will engage in virtual training with team of mentors, complemented by self-paced learning and hands-on training for practical experience. Beyond the core curriculum, all students will partake in weekly Bible study sessions, fostering a deeper understanding and fortifying their moral foundation.
